STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - Hundreds of runners in Monroe County used their feet to raise money for the American Red Cross Sunday morning.
The third annual Run for the Red took over the streets of Stroudsburg and several other communities. Two different events were held. The first was a 5-K race. The second was a 26.2-mile marathon.
Michael Wardian of Virginia won the marathon. Jeff Minnich of Palmerton took first place in the 5-K.
"This is probably the best weather we've ever had and we have more runners this year than we've had in the past two years, so it's a growing race and event and we're happy with the way it's going," race director Robert Werts said.
WYOU & WBRE News were both media sponsors of Sunday's race. The race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. All of the money raised Sunday morning will go to the American Red Cross. | |
