Moosic, Lackawanna Co. - Only a few hundred tickets remained went unsold for the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre Yankees home opener against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Most fans did not want to miss out. It's all happening at PNC Field where ground crews have been cleaning, clearing and rinsing for days.

Now for the first time in 19 years there is a new face behind the team's play by play. Mike Vander Wood joins the Yankees, from Ohio, as the new director of media relations and broadcasting.

The Courtyard Marriott looks forward to cashing in on the Yankees brand, which is only a few minutes from the field. The hotel's G-M says they'll see a steady following from New York and New Jersey. Fans also take advantage of the shopping opportunities and frequent local restaurants.
