SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Dozens of aspiring singers turned out Saturday for a shot at taking center stage at a baseball game.
Eyewitness News stopped by the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton where people auditioned for a chance to sing the national anthem at a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees game.
It's the second year in a row the organization has held tryouts. Officials with the Triple-A club say they're looking for some talent right in the area.
VP of Marketing Services John Stephenson said, "What we're looking for is just anybody that has, you know, good tone, has good stage presence, has some confidence in what they're doing, and someone that could put on a good representation of our national anthem."
The Yankees have 72 home games -- so they were looking to fill all 72 of those spots. | |
