0/ 5 rating HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Sallie Mae is laying off some of its employees.

About one hundred people will be cut from the private loan company in Hanover Township.

Most of the layoffs will be inside Sallie Mae's customer service facility.

The company, that provides college loans, blames the federal government after it took over most of the student loan process.

US senator Bob Casey disagrees, saying Sallie Mae should feel responsible as well.

Senator Casey says Sallie Mae has had large profits in recent years and has outsourced jobs overseas in the past.
