If you're looking for a job or know someone who is we have information on a company that's hiring more than 1,000 workers.
The Bethlehem Sands in Northampton County opened its Monday. The casino doesn't open for at least another 4 to 6 months but applicants tell me it's the one bright spot in a dismal job market.

This is what the new Bethlehem Sands will look like and these are some of the thousands who want to work there. “When I go into a casino it makes me happy. It's Disney World for adults." Ginger Spang of Berks County recently lost her job as an electronics assembler. Finding a new one hasn't been easy. "You can go in and apply but there's a lot of other people applying for the same position."

With unemployment at a 16-year-high, computers at the Sands job center are understandably packed. The casino needs more than a thousand workers when it opens this summer. It's being built on old steel land in Bethlehem. Horace Johnson is looking for a job in management. “I used to work for a really good senator. Senator Rob Wonderling. With the state and everyone doing cut backs, out looking for a job."

You don't have to come here to apply. You can fill out the applications on your home computer and even schedule an interview. So far, more than 5700 people have applied.

Mickey Trageser, vice president of human resources of the Sands, says “I'm getting calls from people laid off from Wall Street, laid off from local businesses, hospitals." Trageser needs people to in food service, marketing, security, finance and more. "What we're doing is finding transferable skills. They may not have casino experience but they have skills in the workplace that might work for us." She expects more than ten thousand people to apply.

With those odds, Ginger's looking for something to set herself apart. "Do you know anyone out there you can help with out with? Haha"
