Sanofi Pasteur Employees Donate to Kids in Need - Monday, November 23, 2009 at 5:00PM EST

MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY - Sanofi Pasteur employees dropped off a truckload of donations for Monroe County Head Start Monday afternoon. Employee Pam Hasara said, "We try to feel like santa and the elves - with all the packages it's hard not to."
Diana Keiper has a child in Head Start. She said, "I think it's awesome! It's the greatest thing."
Karen Fusco a Head Start Manager added, "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you."
Most of the packages included winter boots, gloves and hats. They're necessities that Head Start leaders said many of us take for granted. Fusco explained, "We encourage outside play. We want to take them out every day. And you don't want to be that friend or two who can't go out because you don't have boots."
Keiper was elated to hear she wouldn't have to buy boots this year. She smiled, "The kids need them so it's gonna come in very handy. One less thing we have to worry about buying."
While the drive mainly focuses on things like boots and winter clothing - the employees give a little bit extra - they got lots of food too. Hasara said, "It helps me give back. I've been very fortunate in my life and this allows me to give back and to put a smile on someone else's face."
Smiles that are more valuable than any pair of boots.
This is the 15th year Sanofi employees have donated to head start. Management allows them to use company equipment and time to organize the effort. | | |
