Santa Parades Held All Over the Area
Santa Parades Held All Over the Area - Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:11PM EST
Thousands of folks lined the streets Saturday all in anticipation of seeing the big man in red in several holiday parades around our area.
Eyewitness News stopped by the Wilkes-Barre Santa parade Saturday afternoon. It featured local sports mascots, cheerleaders, floats and live music. Some of our news staff had the opportunity to join in on the fun.
WBRE morning weather anchor Kristi Capel and WYOU Interactive’s Eric Scheiner rode in the parade. We also spotted WBRE Eyewitness News evening anchors Candice Kelly and Drew Speier along with reporter Mike Trim.
And in Lackwanna County folks also celebrated jolly ol' Saint Nick. The parade in downtown Scranton featured live entertainment, dance groups, and of course floats. Thousands of folks braved the cold just to catch a glimpse of Santa.
From Santa Claus to the Thanksgiving turkey. It's the time of year shoppers are in a frenzy trying to find a big bird at a good price. And some shoppers have found the secret to finding a fresh turkey is right from the farm.
Brian Pallman of Pallman Farms in Clarks Summit says despite tough economic times, this year people are still willing to spend a little extra on a holiday staple. “We were worried about the economy, and whether people were going to spend the money, but in our case it seems to be okay,” he said. | |
