SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Santa Claus is using a high tech video telephone to connect with kids at the Scranton State School for the Deaf before Christmas.
He is using American Sign Language to 'speak' with the children and learn what they want for Christmas.
The video telephone was purchased by the Northeast Center for Independent Living through a grant from an anonymous donor.
Center Executive Director Dan Loftus said he came up with the idea after seeing children in a local mall waiting to speak with Santa.
He wondered how deaf children could become involved.
The grant answered his question and Santa's ability to use sign language for the program. | |
