MONTROSE, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY - A high-profile murder trial that is more than 30 years old will enter a new phase Monday morning in Susquehanna County.

Jury selection is expected to begin Monday in the re-trial of Doctor Stephen Scher. The 67-year-old is accused of killing his friend Martin Dillon during a hunting trip in 1976.

Scher was convicted of the murder in 1997, but the decision was later overturned twice on appeal, paving the way for the re-trial. There is a jury pool of more than 170 people slated to appear Monday that could possibly hear the case.

WYOU News will have continuing coverage of the Stephen Scher re-trial beginning Monday on WYOU News at Noon.
