SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A Lackawanna County School bus driver has been sentenced to a month in prison, two months home confinement and six months probation, on charges of corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
Robert Griffith, 67, of Moosic pleaded guilty to the charges which stem from his purchase of prescription drugs from a 16-year-old student he drove to an alternative school every day.
Griffith told the court he accepted full responsibility for his actions and apologized to the teen and his parents during the sentencing hearing.
The parents of the youth took issue with the sentence which they consider to be too short.
Griffith's attorney asked the court to delay the start of the sentence to give his client time to handle some personal matters.
The court rejected the request and sent Griffith to the Lackawanna County Prison to begin serving his sentence immediately.
