EXETER, LUZERNE COUNTY - An engineer determined, Wednesday, that a school damaged by a Luzerne County house explosion is structurally sound.

A house that exploded Saturday in Exeter damaged John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

The blast blew out school windows and damaged ceiling tiles, doors and lighting.

Wyoming Area School Superintendent Ray Bernardi told Eyewitness News that a contractor will begin repairs onThursday.

He hopes the building is ready for the first day of classes on August 31st.

If not, the building's kindergarten through third grade students will begin the school year at nearby Saint Anthony of Padua Center.
