Schools Dealing With Flu Outbreak
Schools Dealing With Flu Outbreak - Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 6:43PM EST
A flu outbreak has hit Bloomsburg University. School officials say the number of students in the hospital is thru the roof.
According to Bloomsburg Universities' website, the number of students who have used the school's health center or the Bloomsburg Hospital emergency room has tripled in the past week.
The strain of the flu was not included in this year's flu vaccine. School officials urge students who develop flu-like symptoms to seek treatment as soon as possible.
Do not share food or drink. Avoid borrowing clothes, pens, books or personal items from students who are sick.
And classes should be back to normal on Monday for some Lackawanna County students.
Holy Cross High School in Dunmore canceled classes on Friday after nearly 200-students were out sick Wednesday and Thursday.
The principal says the plan was to help stop the spread of the respiratory illness students were suffering from. | |
