Schuylkill County Trout Season Opens

Schuylkill County Trout Season Opens - Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 9:32PM EST

Frackville, Schuylkill County -
It's a busy week for workers at the Tackle Box in Frackville. That's because everyone is getting ready for opening day of trout season Saturday in Schuylkill County .

From rods to reels, to lures, to nets, to vests, to bobbers, everything is selling fast.

George Wycheck, manager of the Tackle Box says, “Tomorrow's gonna be hectic in here. Just about all the Bait & Tackle shops will be hectic on Friday. Hopefully Saturday we'll get some good weather Saturday morning."

Workers at the Tackle Box say this year a lot of people are coming in for live bait over things like spinners.

For many anglers, casting a line on opening day is a family tradition. Anthony Gallo's been doing it for nearly 40 years. Anthony says, “WIth me, its family. Just mainly spending it with family, going out and enjoying ourselves. If we catch fish, we catch fish, if not, it’s just a day with the family."

People in Schuylkill County know they're lucky to be the first in the water, hoping to reel in that trophy trout.
