Boy Scouts in Iowa are remembering the friends they lost last night at the Little Sioux Boy Scout Camp.
On Thursday they held a candlelight vigil in their memory.
Two 13-year olds and two 14-year old boys were killed.
A total of 93 boys and 25 staff members were attending a week-long leadership training camp.
Then last night a tornado ripped through their campsite.
The group is being praised for their efforts for providing first aid and searching for victims immediately following the tornado.
The loss the scouts are feeling is also being felt here at home.
Eyewitness News stopped by Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas .
There boy scout troop 281 was holding its “Court of Honor”.
The scouts received badges and merits.
Leaders and parents who volunteered their time were recognized.
But the tragedy at the scout camp in Iowa was on their minds.
Scout Member Patrick Kalish of TROOP 281 told us
" I heard the story and I heard the other troops are being called heroes and I think we all have to learn from that as scouts "
Scout Master Ron Santora agrees ¶
"We are very honored to be part of a group who acted so professionally and so admirably under those terrible circumstances .”
This is Troop 281's 75th anniversary year.
