SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY
More than 300 kids from Scranton boarded busses Tuesday morning for a field trip to Washington, D. C. The 4-day-trip is an annual event sponsored by "Friends of the Poor", an organization that works to help low income families in the Scranton area.
Sister Adrian Barrett who directs Friends of the Poor has conducted the trip for the past 22 years. She says its important for the children to learn about democracy.
The trip will include stops at the U. S. Naval Academy, Arlington Cemetery, various War Memorials and the National Museum of Natural History among other stops.
The tour is funded through donations from area elected officials and businesses. | | |
