SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A fire that destroyed an apartment and damaged two businesses in Scranton has been ruled accidental.
Fire investigators say the Sunday blaze on Ferdinand Street started inside a utility closet at Cheryl's Studio II Salon.
That business sustained smoke and water damage.
A neighboring business, Pepper's Pizza & Sub, also had smoke damage. Workers from both places spent Monday accessing the damage.
"If we can open even half the salon, we're gonna do as much as we can to get up and running as soon as possible," Cheryl Simon of Cheryl's Studio II said.
"The Scranton fire department was great. They were here in under five minutes. I think them being so quick saved a lot of water damage I could have gotten here and other damage," Pepper's owner Gene Fitzpatrick said.
Pepper's Pizza hopes to re-open on Tuesday. A re-opening date for the salon has not yet been set. | |
