SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Scranton police say they've busted a big cocaine ring.
Daniel Walton of Scranton was apparently the ring leader, arrested Friday morning on Quincy Avenue.
People like John Ciccone of Scranton are happy to see the cocaine off the streets. "Sure we're happy to see it off the streets, but you know, it's out there, they got to get them," says Ciccone.
Police say Walton had 5 people working under him, dealing about 50 to 75 grams of cocaine a week in and around Scranton. Andrew Fuller of Newton, Mathew Matis of Dunmore and Michael Doyle of Scranton were also arrested Friday morning. All are charged with drug distribution related charges.
Richard Chernia lives in Scranton and says, "The fact that it's happening in this part of town, you know, it's not necessarily shocking, um, but, we definitely need to be vigilant, definitely need to stay on top of it because it's out there in every community not just here in West Scranton."
Two people in this alleged drug ring are still on the loose. Police say there are warrants out for Leann Richards of Jermyn and Jason Marshall of Throop.
Police say Daniel Walton ran this drug ring while he was out on bail. He was convicted in 2008 on another case investigated by the state Attorney General's office. | |
