SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Top brass at the Scranton Police Department confirm a veteran police officer is suspended without pay and may be fired soon.

Chief Dave Elliot says Detective Tim Mayo may have jeopardized a shooting investigation for refusing to report for duty.

Police are still looking for two suspects in the shooting at the Midtown Apartments that hurt a young man. It's been almost 3 weeks and no arrest has been made in the case.

Detective Mayo is reportedly one of three officers trained to use special equipment that would have helped identify the suspects sooner.
