Scranton Fire Damages Two Businesses, Apartment

Scranton Fire Damages Two Businesses, Apartment - Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 04:04AM EST

Reported by: Eyewitness News
Sunday April 18 2010
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - Two Scranton businesses are shut down and a man is forced from his apartment after a fire in the city's Keyser Valley area. The fire broke out at a building on Ferdinand Street housing an apartment, a salon and a deli.

Firefighters on the scene believe the fire started inside Cheryl's Studio II -- possibly in a closet area. Crews were able to confine most of the fire damage to the salon and a second floor apartment.

While Pepper's Pizza and subs was spared significant damage, a friend of the owner says the business still had to close. Amanda Amos said, "Peppers plans on reopening Tuesday due to smoke and water damage. They have to wipe everything down and get it all cleaned up."

There's no word what the salon owner plans to do. The Red Cross is helping the man whose apartment was damaged in the fire.
