SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A Scranton man is behind bars tonight after police say he tried to light a woman on fire.

It happened at an apartment building in the 600-block of Moosic Street around 2:00 AM on Thursday. Police say Randy Barr lit 44-year-old Marianne Krug on fire.

According to court papers, Barr said he did it because Krug was taking down to him last night and threatened to poison his dog.

When asked if he had any comment about the criminal charges, Barr said he had no comment late Thursday afternoon. He was brought in for his arraignment at a district magistrate just after 4:00 PM.

Police say Barr threw a liquid on his victim and then lit a match.

The victim, Marianne Krug, was taken to Scranton CMC. She was later transferred to a hospital in the Lehigh Valley. She is listed in critical condition.

At Barr's arraignment, we learned he is no stranger to the law. He's spent time in prison on drug charges before. He has also faced charges of retail theft.

Bail for Randy Barr was set at $150,000 dollars.
