SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A project to create several murals in Scranton is grabbing the attention of state officials.
Over the course of the summer, the city's parks department has been inviting kids to paint murals at all of the city's pools. Its being paid for by a $34,000 grant.
The state considers the program so successful, they want to use the Scranton program as a statewide model.
"We had kids that showed up absolutely every single day and will still run to the wall and show you what it is they've created," Sandi Opshinsky, the city's recreational specialist said.
More than 300 kids have participated in the program this summer. The final mural will be painted later this month at Connell Park. | |
