SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- More than $400,000 is being pumped into a Scranton neighborhood to help spruce it up. The Wachovia Regional Foundation donated that money to fix up a 30 block area of South Scranton. The Cedar Avenue corridor has been on the decline for years. Homeowners are excited the neighborhood will be changing for the better. Irene Prazych said, ÒThere's all factories across the street from me, there's only four homes on one side. Then all the factory windows are all boarded up. ItÕs a mess." Flora Ceccacci said, ÒWe've heard a lot of talk and I'm hoping something will be done because I have to sell my house." Some of the money will be used to convert empty lots into productive space. The rest of the money will be used to increase home ownership opportunities in the neighborhood.
