SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY Ð People who park at Scranton parking meters will need some extra change starting today.

New meter rates go into effect that will double to 50-cents per 30 minutes.

Over time parking tickets will also double from $10 to $20.

Scranton City Council approved the increased parking fees to avoid raising Scranton property taxes.
