Wednesday April 14 2010
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- You could call it a blight fight. Wednesday Scranton police fanned out across the city investigating complains of rundown and dangerous properties...

One of the first on the list was 422-424 Fig Street in South Scranton. It was immediately condemned. Neighbors say its been a problem for years.

Two other properties on nearby Healey Place were also investigated and condemned.

The goal of Wednesday's saturation was to compile information on all the problem properties in the city. Officials will now try to find out who the owners are and decide if they should be cited.

Some properties could also be targeted for demolition.

And starting Thursday one officer will be assigned to tackle problem properties full time.
