SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A Roman Catholic priest from the Diocese of Scranton is charged with perjury as part of a grand jury investigation of Dunmore businessman Louis DeNaples.
Our News Alliance partner, the Scranton Times-Tribune, reports Reverend Joseph Sica is accused of lying to the grand jury about his relationship with the late Russell Bufalino, a reputed organized crime leader in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Dauphin County District Attorney’s office announced the perjury charge, Wednesday. The D.A. is investigating if DeNaples lied to state gaming officials about his ties to organized crime before being granted a license to open mount airy casino resort.
