SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Teachers in the Scranton School District are one step closer to a new contract. Nearly 600 teachers came together Sunday afternoon to vote on a new deal.
After a three hour session the proposal passed overwhelmingly. The vote was 563 yes to 30 no.
The exact details of the new contract have not been released to the public but we know the new contract is a three year deal.
Pat McDonough of the Scranton Federation of Teachers said, “Our presentation was very positively received. Teachers in Scranton are going forward in both healthcare payments, salaries and working conditions. A very equitable contract between us and the school district."
We expect to learn more about the specifics of the new contract after the Scranton school district votes on the proposal. That vote is scheduled for September 16th. | |
