SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY
Neighbors in one part of North Scranton say its time to demolish an abandoned house that has become an eyesore and potential threat to their properties.
The house, on North Main Avenue, hasen't been lived in for at least 8 years. Supports for the front porch roof are sagging and the house appears to have a slight list to one side. The property around the house is overgrown with tall grass and weeds.
Neighbors say they are afraid that a fire in the abandoned house could quickly spread to their properties. There are also concerns about animals seen on the property including rodents, cats, and dogs.
A spokesman for the city believes the house is on a list of properties slated for demolition but could give no specific time table for the work to begin. | |
