SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Scranton city's demolition crew is tearing down a house damaged in an arson fire. The work got started Wednesday morning.

The double block house on Cedar Avenue had been empty for several years. It was heavily damaged by fire in July of 2007. Investigators determined that the fire had been set by an arsonist.

The house is just a block away from the South Scranton Intermediate School and there were concerns that children could be injured if they got on the property. Neighbors called the house both an eyesore and a danger to the neighborhood.

The Scranton Fire Department is requesting information from the public that could help lead them to the person who set the fire on Cedar Avenue. Any with information should call 348-4164.
