WEST PITTSON, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Boats are in the water and people are along the banks of the Susquehanna River. They're hoping for a river rescue.
But it doesn't involve a missing person. It's all centered around a four legged friend. The pooch swam to an island in the middle of the river, in West Pittston.
Bubby's been missing from his West Pittston home since last week. It's believed the Cockerspaniel mix swam to Scovell Island and has been barking for his owners ever since.
Tuesday morning, dog lovers had enough. Something had to be done. Damien Blanchard of Kingston searched and said, "We have two dogs, i mean i just love animals and when i heard he's been out here since Tuesday, has no food, he's small supposedly no bigger than a Chihuahua."
But finding Bubby proved to be a tough task. Gena Raymond watched helplessly with her pup from across the river. "I just want to jump in the river and find him myself. I hope they find him though, the poor little thing," said Raymond.
But hours of searching came up with no dog, no happy ending, only the hope that Bubby will come home soon. Search crews say they'll keep on looking. Mike Mitsock of Tunkhannock said, "The best thing would be to come out here with a bag of food maybe and drop it down. From what i can see track-wise there's only a couple of raccoons and muskrats, there's only a few animals out here." | |
