SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Representatives of Mandalay, the company that manages the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, say that three as yet unnamed companies are being considered to become the new concession vendor at PNC Field. Mandalay CEO Art Matin told members of the Lackawanna County Stadium his firm is reviewing proposals from all three and hopes to make a decision soon.

Mandalay fired its previous vendor, CPI, for what it said was a breach of contract. It is currently involved in a lawsuit filed against CPI.

CPI also operated the Stadium Club Restaurant at PNC field. It closed when Mandalay fired the company. A member of the Stadium Authority said he believed thousands of dollars worth of equipment was taken from the restaurant when it closed. The ownership of that equipment may have to be decided as part of the lawsuit between Mandalay and CPI.

Matin said the future of the Stadium Club Restaurant will be in the hands of whatever vendor is selected.

Mandalay and the Stadium Authority are both anxious to select a new vendor to make sure everything is ready for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Yankees season which begins in early April.
