BARTONSVILLE - A family prepares to mark a sad anniversary. Six months ago Wednesday someone shot a hunter to death in the Poconos. Police say they are still searching for the killer, so is the victim's family.
Charlene Sebring has two full time jobs. One as a clerk at a candle shop. The other, searching for the person who killed her son.
"I'm not going to stop, last breath in my body, I'm gonna find who did this," she said.
Six months ago someone murdered Lee VanLuvender. He was hunting on state game lands in Long Pond.
"It's gotta be done. It's too long," cried his mother.
Charlene has spent the past six months trying to let people know a killer is on the loose.
She said, "This murderer needs to be off the streets."
She wants people to think about her son wherever she goes. She's even covered her car in writing to remind people what happened to Lee.
She also helped raise money for a $10,000 reward, encouraged billboard companies to put Lee's face on their signs and found sponsors to help her print thousands of fliers.
"Someone knows someone didn't act right on December 4th, 2007. Some body needs to step up," she said.
Everyday Charlene prays that her search ends soon. For Lee's memory, for Lee's two and a half year old son, and for herself.
She said, "There's no closure. There's no healing. Maybe the healing will come once I understand why, and who."
If you have any information about who killed Lee VanLuvender, call Pocono Mountain Regional Police at 570-895-2400. | |
