It's day 2 in a Susquehanna River search.
Crews are looking in Luzerne County 's Shickshinny area for a man who fell into the water last night around 8 o'clock .
Will bush of Mocanaqua was relaxing Sunday night when he saw Dan Camacho in the Susquehna river.
Will Busch of Mocanaqua says, "The last I seen him he was going from the shore over to the island, and kept calling his name, come on back, come on back, and he wouldn't come back."
Busch says he saw the current take Camacho under, and that's when he called 9-1-1 .
Fire crews and divers quickly rushed to the river.
They searched for a little more than 2 hours, then had to stop the search because of lightning.
Gary Luttinger is a Lieutenant with the Shickshinny fire department, and was part of the search.
"We were on the river and the severe lightning storm came overhead and we all had to pull out of the water until the storms cleared, and then we went back in to search," says Luttinger.
He and other fire fighters were getting this boat ready for the search Monday morning.
A state police helicopter is also searching through the sky for Comacho.
Back at bush's house, everyone hopes for the best.
"I'm hoping he made it to the island, he's passed over there around the brush. He's under the brush somewhere or under the trees, sleeping. And it's early yet, anything could happen. That's the best i'm hoping for," says Busch.
Rescue crews say they'll search for Comacho through Monday night. | |
