WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY -- For many people holidays, including Easter, mean spending money you don't have. But some people are finding ways to celebrate and save -- by shopping second-hand stores.

Lindsay Rysz is feeling the effects of the economy and counts on consignment shops, including "R Kids 2 Yours" in Wyoming.

"Me personally being unemployed right now, something like this makes it so I can give my nieces a nice Easter," said Rysz. "I can give more than just one thing to them, can give them a variety of things."

Dozens of shoppers came in the first hour of business alone Saturday, buying Easter Sunday outfits and gifts for baskets. Nancy Rettenmeyer drives from Moosic for the deals, so she can buy even more.

"There are other things you can look for when you buy things at this price," said Rettenmeyer.

People tell us they like to shop here, especially leading up to the holidays in order to save money. For example, an Easter dress would probably be $25 or more in a regular store, but here, it's only $7.50.

Owner Janine Hennigan says the consignment shop started as a business, but it has evolved into helping others in tough times.

"I'm so glad I'm in this business, because I do see people every day, telling me they're losing their jobs, and they're thankful this store is here," said Hennigan. "It helps, that's for sure. People are in need."
