Separate House Fires Leave 7 Homeless - Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:27AM EST

Reported by: Eyewitness News

Six people are homeless after fire destroyed their Schuylkill County home this morning. Flames broke out at a home at 38 South Maple Street in Cass Township just before 8:30. The people living in the home were able to make it out safely.

In Luzerne County, one person is homeless this morning after a fire destroyed a double block house in Edwardsville. It happened on Green Street just after 8:00 Sunday night.

Eyewitnesses say the homeowner was inside at the time. Rob Novak said, "I came here and I talked to the guy and said he came out of the shower and said the sofa was on fire. He had animals and stuff and was worried about his animals and was all that. That's all I know, other than I feel sorry for the man, though."

Right now an investigation continues into the cause.
