SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY -- State police say seven vehicles were in two separate accidents at mile marker 251 on Interstate 80 westbound. Seven people were taken to the hospital with what troopers called minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

One driver told us his Ford Explorer started fishtailing, and two other SUV's clipped his car, setting off the chain accident. All three of them crashed into the guiderail.

Two other cars were in a separate accident in the other lane. The driver of a Volkswagen Beetle told us she recently moved from Arizona to Ohio and is still getting used to the snow.

The Jetta that collided with the Beetle was totaled. That driver is from Philadelphia. He told us he's an E. M.T. that isn't used to being on the other side of a car accident.

The spot where the crash happened is around a curve, which state police say is known for accidents.

"They're very fortunate, because we commonly have accidents here," said Tpr. Anthony Kowalick. "Luckily nobody was injured severely."

He says the accidents are still under investigation and drivers could face citations if troopers determine they were speeding.
