Williamsport, Lycoming County-

From tragedy to triumph, one little girl’s musical aspirations are providing hope to countless others.

At the WILQ Studios in Williamsport, radio host Ted Minier interviews an adorable little girl named Isabella Cole, whose new song “Santa Can You Make Me a Mermaid,” is hitting the airwaves.

Seven-year-old Isabella explains, “I just like to sing songs.”

For Isabella, life hasn’t always been this good.

At age two, a small scratch on her back led to a bad fever, and an eventual diagnosis of necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating disease.

For the past five years, the little girl has suffered through a painful series of surgeries and skin grafts, most recently at Shriners Hospital in Cincinatti.

Isabella’s father, Keith Cole, noted, “Shriners provides all services to children at no charge. So we wanted to give back, and this is our beginning of that.”

Now healthy, Isabella’s passion for music has been her outlet from the pain.

Minier, a morning DJ and operations manager at WILQ, said, “You know this time of year you want to help anyone you can. And she’s got a great message and a great little song. She’s a cute kid. She’s very talented. Obviously her heart is in the right place.”

A portion of the proceeds from Isabella Cole’s CD will be donated to Shriners hospital, in the hopes that other kids will be able to experience a miracle like hers.

Isabella has a simple message for those children. “I just want them to get better,” she says.

For dad Keith, the message is simply one of hope.

He noted, “We were looking for any sign of anybody that went through this, especially a child that survived, and we couldn’t find it. So we want to tell people that in the worst of circumstances, something good can happen.”

For the Cole family, the proof is in the music, and the smile on this little girl’s face.
