WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- The investigation is intensifying into a 14-year-old girl in Wilkes-Barre who claims she was paid for sex. The I-Team was first to tell you about this story Tuesday night. Today as police investigate, parents are reacting. Officials in Wilkes-Barre aren't wasting any time getting to the bottom of these allegations. And parents say they want answers. The “sex for sale” investigation centers on a 14-year-old female student at G. A.R. High School in Wilkes-Barre. Sources close to the case tell the I-Team that school officials intercepted a note from the girl that detailed allegations of sex with an adult male. That man supposedly is the father of another student at Dobson Elementary School. The girl claims that man paid her for sex. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Namey says the district moved very quickly to call in Wilkes-Barre police and Luzerne County Children & Youth Services. “These allegations are alleged. We really have no idea if anything occurred or did not occur. All we know is that we have reasonable suspicion to believe that something, as I've indicated, highly inappropriate did occur," he said. There are a lot of questions about the connection between the father of the student at Dobson Elementary and the girl who said that he paid her for sex. "I know one thing for sure, nothing happened on school property," added Namey. But those allegations have parents talking. Viki Jones said, "I think it's horrible. I fear for the safety of kids in the area... Sick, definitely sick." Sources close to the investigation tell the I-Team that the girl claims the sexual encounters occurred over a long period of time. | | |
