SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- An employee of the Diocese of Scranton is under criminal investigation. Eyewitness News has confirmed a lay worker is being looked at for allegations of sexual misconduct.
And the Lackawanna County District Attorney's office confirmed last night the Special Victims Unit received a letter from the Diocese of Scranton.
The letter reportedly asks the D. A.'s office to investigate claims that an unidentified senior diocesan worker sexually abused a minor.
The diocese has not commented on the letter. A spokesman declined to say what the letter said or even comment if there was a letter.
In a potentially unrelated matter, there was a personnel shuffle. That happened yesterday and involved a ranking member of the diocesan education system.
Again, there's no reason to believe at this time the two are connected. | |
