Shamokin Fire Ruled Arson - Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 11:25PM EST

SHAMOKIN, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY- A fire that destroyed two homes and damaged a third early Sunday morning in Northumberland County has been ruled arson.
The blaze started inside a vacant building in the 100-block of North Franklin Street in Shamokin just after 3:00 A. M.

The flames quickly spread to another vacant building and an occupied home. The two people who lived there got out safely. Shamokin Fire Assistant Chief Bruce Rogers said, “The original fire building was damaged in a fire 6-or-7 years prior. It’s been vacant since. It was boarded up when we got here so…"

Anyone with information on the arson is urged to call Shamokin Police at 648-5708.
