WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Wilkes-Barre church says goodbye for good. Members of the First United Methodist Church celebrated their final services Sunday.
The building was recently sold to an art production company after declining enrollment. With the sale of First United Methodist, not only must the congregation pack up and move, but so must the active women’s homeless shelter located in the building.
The congregation already has a new location. Combining with another church, but the women’s shelter is still in need of a new location.
They are temporarily using the facilities at the Salvation Army until November. If you know of any building that may be suitable for the women's shelter please contact them at 822-6817. | |
