The Luzerne County sheriff's office is coming under fire for its guns records.

The I-team first told you the sheriff's office skipped steps while selling a machine gun.

Acting sheriff Charles Guarnieri was subpoenaed.

On Friday he met with the county controller Walter Griffith who showed us records subpoenaed from the county sheriff's office.

They show evidence of gun sales but Griffith says they're far from complete.

"There's a lot of unanswered loose ends here that you know, when you're dealing with firearms it's critical that we know what that information is, I mean critical," said Griffith .

Under a subpoena, sheriff Guarnieri was ordered to bring all records of guns kept at the sheriff's office as well as gun sales.

He did bring records Friday, but only one showed totals received from gun sales, just under 27 thousand dollars from 2009.

Either there's something going on that he doesn't know about or there's something going on that i should know about."

Giffith says something needs to be done now.

The I-team exposed problems in the sheriff office back in January.

We discovered a machine gun was sold without commissioner's approval, skipping the necessary bidding process in 2009.

That sale happened under the former sheriff.

The gun was sold to Advanced Arms in Pittston, a store that's purchased several other county firearms.

Griffith says the store has cooperated.

Griffith says the next step is to audit the sheriff's office, something that hasn't been done in three years .
