Sherman Hills/Residents Return - Friday, October 10, 2008 at 8:48PM EST

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -
Eyewitness News walked with Amparro Skerreh as she walked into her apartment for the first time since Sunday's fire. She did not know what to expect, but as she looked around she knew this was home sweet home.
Amparo Skerreh says, “I feel so glad so happy to be home again. I miss my home. Nobody knows this is my place here, no other place."
She and her neighbors were forced out by flames. Early Sunday morning a resident accidentally set his mattress on fire smoking in bed. Today Eyewitness News found people, coming back, many for the first time, not knowing what to expect. Some of them had to stay in a Red Cross shelter.
Rita Griglock. a Sherman Hills resident says, ”Oh that cot, I’m stiff all over”. Charlotte Partash, another Sherman Hills resident says, “It’s wonderful. There is nothing like being in your own home after all of this. It’s scary I'll tell you."
But that fear was really lessened by the help they say they got from the Sherman Hills staff, the Red Cross and of course the firefighters.
There were lots of tears for joy today at Sherman Hills. There are still some people who are being put up in temporary apartments while repairs are made to the fourth floor.
