PALMERTON, CARBON COUNTY - Olympic snowboarders inspired Chad Hackman and Devin Bucks to hit the slopes at Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton. Bucks said, "It was pretty crazy how they do all those awesome tricks and everything. It was pretty insane." Hackman added, "I just wanted to try."

This is Hackman's first time. He said Gold Medal Snowboarder Shawne White inspired him. He smiled, "He's so good. No one can really beat him."

The Olympics also inspired the Altieri family from Montgomery County. Alex Altieri said, "It made me go skiing cause it's fun going skiing."

Blue Mountain's Marketing Director Heidi Lutz said the Olympics helped make this one of the best ski seasons ever. She said, "Everybody wants to come out and be like them."

In addition to the Olympics the weather has also had a big impact. There were many cold days and lots of natural powder from big storms. Melissa Altieri said, "It's been really great. The weather has been awesome."

Lutz said, "When people look out their front window and they see snow on the lawn they think Blue Mountain and they think snowboarding and skiing."

Between the snow and the Olympics Alex Altieri could barely contain his excitemet. He said you might see him at the Olympics in the future.

Blue Mountain plans to stay open through mid March weather permitting.
