SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Two separate crashes are being blamed for an early Thursday morning traffic jam.

They happened on the North Scranton Expressway between the Keyser Avenue interchange and the Viewmont Mall area. The driver of a Jeep said he lost control on the wet road. A mini van then struck the Jeep and the van crashed into an embankment before overturning. Rescuers freed the man in the mini-van and sent him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Jeep driver was not hurt.

That crash caused a backlog in which a second 2-vehicle crash happened.

Traffic was down to one lane during the heart of the morning commute along the expressway in Scranton.
