SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Developers of the SnoCove Water Park on Montage Mountain in Scranton hope to be open to the public by July 18th.

The 18 million dollar attraction was originally scheduled to open last summer. SnoCove President Denis Carlson said construction complications and delays in equipment delivery forced the company to reschedule till this summer.

The water park will include several major attractions including a 'Lazy River" which will accomodate nearly 700 people, a wave pool capable of generating waves big enought for a surfer to use, a Mat Race Slide, and a so-called 'Zip ride' which will carry people on a cable from the top of the mountain above the water park to the parking lot below at speeds up to 50 miles an hour.

SnoCover is owned and operated by the same private company that runs the SnoMountain Ski Resort at the same location.
