STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - The snow as already buried streets but could it also help bury your plans for a romantic Valentine gesture?
Some florists say flower wholesalers are having trouble making it out of snowbound warehouses. Eyewitness News visited a Stroudsburg flower shop to see how it's dealing with the problem.
As the orders poured n at Floral Boutique florists went through flowers fast. Maybe too fast. Employee Gloria Killeen explained, "Our flower deliveries didn't come."
Some vases in the shop will remain empty until they get a shipment of flowers from Philadelphia, a city that has been whacked by two snow storms recently. Killeen said, "It's gonna be kind of rough for us when the flowers do come because they did call us yesterday and say they didn't know what time they would deliver them today."
While they didn't have all the flowers they needed, they prepared the best they could. The staff even came in during Wednesday's storm. Killeen said, "I thought it was peaceful and quiet." Peaceful and quiet but not for long. Once the delivery arrives they'll work overtime. Killeen said, "We have to work very fast."
Florist Jeannette Kirsch added, "Give my kids a big kiss and a hug and say I'll see you when I see you and I hope it's not too late." She said it's important to work hard because flowers make people happy and she doesn't want any boyfriends or husbands getting in trouble. She smiled, "As long as you have the teamwork and everyone works together you can get it done."
Floral Boutique said their delivery truck arrived late Thursday afternoon. They will be able to fill all of their Valentine orders on time. | |
