Snow Heads for our Area Midweek
Snow Heads for our Area Midweek - Monday, February 8, 2010 at 6:45PM EST
Reported by: Meteorologist Dave Skutnik
Monday, Feb 8, 2010 @ 06:45pm EST
Snow is expected to arrive in our area Tuesday evening and may last through much of Wednesday. The heaviest snow is expected to fall on Wednesday afternoon over the Poconos and Lehigh Valley. Strong winds are also expected Wednesday afternoon into Thursday.
So far this season our area has dodged the record-breaking blizzards that have struck from Washington, DC to Baltimore and Philadelphia. Over the weekend a storm delivered 6-10" of snow to communities south of Interstate 80.
This midweek storm is forecast to come even farther north bringing snow to all of Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. In the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area, it's been a full month since 2" or more of snow has fallen from a single storm. It's been over a year since 6" of snow fell in one storm, and you have to go back nearly 3 years since we saw a 10" snowstorm.
While we're not expecting to break any records with this snowfall, it may be the biggest storm we've seen in quite a while in the Valley Cities.
