HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY -- Besides causing problems on the roads, the snow hurt some businesses. Many were forced to close Wednesday because of the storm. Store owners in downtown Honesdale tried, but were barely able to keep up with Mother Nature Wednesday.

Even if they did, Sandie Grandinetti, who owns a bridal shop, says there really was no point. ÒNo one's been in. Absolutely no one. You are the first person I'm talking to today,Ó she said.

Some stores did close. They didn't even chance it. Louisa Kalma said, ÒPeople that live kinda far away -- they don't want to travel in this kinda weather. They just think a snowstorms gonna get worse."

At Nature's Grace Natural Foods, only one customer came in in a total of three hours. Jamie Stunkard said, ÒWe had nobody in the morning, so I'm probably, I'm just gonna, if nobody coming in. I'm probably just gonna close up shop."

Believe it or not one place was busy in downtown Honesdale Wednesday was H & R Block. If you can't deal with Old Man Winter, you might as well pay Uncle Sam.

Bobbi Ford said, ÒI think itÕs because they know itÕs gonna be quiet and they can come in quick and get their returns done.Ó

Even though most businesses had very few customers we did find some people out and about. They didn't mind the peace and quiet. Theresa Pedersen of White Mills said, ÒWalMart wasn't that busy so it was nice. I had the store kinda to myself."
