Snow Squalls Cause Crashes

Snow Squalls Cause Crashes - Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 5:20PM EST

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY -- There were at least five crashes along Interstate 81 because of snowy conditions Wednesday morning. The Northbound lanes were shut down temporarily, and traffic crawled in the Southbound lanes.

But some of that traffic from the Interstate took alternate routes and caused accidents on other roadways, including Route 309 in Rush Township.

An SUV heading Northbound slid on an icy bridge there and flipped onto its roof in the Southbound lanes. The driver, Shawn Stoves of Nesquehoning, was trapped inside for 15 minutes. He's expected to be fine.
