STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY -- Snow fell heavily in Monroe County much of the day. Stroudsburg officials declared a snow emergency Wednesday morning. That means you can't park on streets with snow emergency signs. If you do - you could be towed.
Stroudsburg saw about 9 inches of snow. Plow drivers did their best to keep up with the snow all day. But the snow fell faster than they could clean. A two inch layer of slush coated the streets there most of the day.
The sloppy and dangerous road conditions forced many businesses to close today. Some Main Street shops didn't open at all. The Stroud Mall closed at 2:00 P. M.
Business owners hope the snow stops soon so road crews can clean up the mess and they can make up some lost profits. | |
